Will this i5 fit my system?

Hello hello!

I have an i3-4160 currently, with a Gigabyte B85-HD3 motherboard. The i3-4160 has been suffering for some time, given that I tend to play some somewhat CPU-intensive games, so I've decided to upgrade. I've settled on the i5-4690, given that I've heard good things about i5s, and its a decent price (Currently £177).

My question is mostly whether or not it'll work with my motherboard. I'm not planning to overclock at all, as I'm not buying the unlocked version, but I have read on some forums that they don't work together for some reason and I'd like to be quite certain before purchasing it.

It will work just fine with that motherboard. It should be plug in play. Though you might need to reinstall windows if things get glitchy.

Yes it is compatible. You could also upgrade bios version from motherboard before installing CPU just in case.

Like stated above it will be compatible right out of the box and windows should be fine , with just a CPU upgrade it should perform very well.
