I'm asking because I'm wanting to get into mining a bit and I already have this old Acer prebuilt mini PC that I have taken apart and have gotten it working. It has 2 pcie slots so I'm wondering if I could use normal gpus like possibly gtx 1060s-1080s and rx 470s-580s (what I plan on using) in this system and have it work fine. Also can you really use those 1 to 4 mining adapters for pcie slots to expand those 2 slots to 8? Thanks for the help, here is a picture of the system below:

Given the present explosion in electricity price in many countries, have you considered if this whole aventure is still cost effective ?
Currently with my gaming PC where I mine on the side, I make about 2.50$ per day. I certainly think it is worth it and since I'm a teen who only works a couple days a week. A couple more grand a year is a whole lot.

OK so you are absolutely positive that the cost of mining with your gaming PC is lower than 2,50 $ per day ? I have no idea of the cost of electricity in the US

Yes, according to nicehash and whattomine when putting in my electricity costs, I should make a profit of around $2.50 per day I make about $3 per day so each day around 50 cents I also don't pay the electrical bill but we will see If my parents will make me

You will also need a PSU with sufficient power and sufficient PCIe power connectors for you GPUs (wathever the number).
Yes, I have 2 600W power supplies, but my main question is are modern graphic cards compatible with these really old boards and chipsets and will I still be able to get the maximum performance out of the gpus?
