At work I have a Gateway (sorry, don't know the model, but it's bare
bones, no sound card). I'm getting 'ghost' images of open windows on
monitors. I've tried two of our crt monitors and a brand new flatpanel
that I tested at home. All of them look great on any other computer but
mine. Help!!

This can be caused by the monitor cable resting against another cable,
usually a power cable or near to another appliance like a poorly shielded
speaker.

This is caused by a monitor cable that is not up to specs.

There are "cables" and there are "cables". Good shielded types don't ghost,
they cost a lot in comparison to others (usually double the price).
I would insist on a cable that individually screens all the signal wires.
See, the signals that go to a monitor are analog, and at high frequencies
the cable is susceptible to interference. This interference is what causes
the ghosting. Good cabling can ignore interference and you'll get a great
picture every time.
If you are plugging in the monitor cables directly to the puter in the VGA
port, the 15pin, and the image still ghosts, then it's time to upgrade the
video card.
