So when i built my computer I installed windows 7 Home Premium because windows 10 didnt exist yet, however it upgraded to windows 10 once it was released. Now I'm wanting to swap my HDD for an SSD, and have the SSD as the boot drive. Will using the Windows 7 install disk still work when I go to swap the drives over?

You don't need your old WIn 7.

You can maybe do a straight clone form old drive to new SSD, given some restrictions.

How much space is consumed on your current drive?
What size is the new SSD?

Answers to those questions determine how we proceed.

here are a few video's that show you how to do a fresh install of Windows 10 from your HDD to SDD.

if you try to use you windows 7 key and it doesnt work. call Microsoft tech support they will help you if you explain to them that you put in a new Drive. and your key isnt working now. I did this and got my upgrade back.
