New Build, new windows 10 key/install with a few months old 2070 that was in my previous system

The monitor is plugged into the gpu, it lights up, spins, etc. Bios detects it, but whatever I do it will not show up under display adapters

Since Windows is booting and you can see it on the screen then Windows is in fact "detecting" your 2070 because it is using it as a display adapter. The problem is that Windows is using its native generic display driver instead of Nvidia's driver. So the question becomes why won't nvidia's drivers install? Are you downloading the driver package directly from nvidia and running the .exe manually? Or are you trying to install the driver through windows update. I would download the driver manually and install it by running the .exe. Is that what you did when you got the "nvidia driver not compatible with this version of windows " error? Make sure Win 10 is fully updated before installing the newest driver from nvidia.

I assume you...

Power connections are good, tried a different one, Tried another slot, same issue. The UEFI says Navida gpu native 16x, It was on auto, changed it to gen 3, nothing new. One Issue I notice is for windows update it's RED--at risk, blah blah, but when I Check for updates nothing is found. I even reinstalled the last major update on the list

I assume you are going here and downloading the driver package right? https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx

Windows up showing "at risk" may not be the issue, but may be pointing to the issue. Did you download and install all motherboard drivers from here first? https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-Crosshair-VIII-Hero/HelpDesk_Download/

As to the Nvidia issue, you are getting the error BECAUSE you don't have the latest version of Windows. I would recommend you get the driver updater fixed, however, one shortcut here would be to download the latest version and let it run the update for you.

You should have a button at the top that says "Update now". If for some reason you do not, or it doesn't work, use the "Download tool now" option.
