Whenever I start my lenovo 580 laptop I see horizontal lines flickering on my screen which disappear after a few minutes. I've tried opening and closing the lid to see if it was a physical problem but it only appears if I switch the laptop on andoff. I cannot find a new driver. On the nvidia website the latest driver is for windows 8.

The lines appear as soon as you boot? Or only after the desktop loads?

If it's the M graphics card (probably is) then use https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us and select the 32 or 64 bit version from the OS drop down.
