Windows 10 loads ok, pop in password to get into system, I get a black screen saying c:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe. If I exit the command prompt I just get the black screen, how can this be fixed, so I can get to my desktop items? Tried to find help on this and people said go to start, but there is no start button at the bottom. I also cannot do system restore using windows 10 set up disk, as it says choose a drive, when the system starts.

Help please.

I had something similar happen to the gf's laptop. I could manually navigate/launch explorer.exe via the command prompt, but was never able to functionally 'do' anything.

Unfortunately, a clean install is the only route I got to work - and I suspect you'll have to do the same thing, first creating bootable installation media.

System restored ok, but same issue, however can get to desktop by using explorer.exe.

At least I can get to the start button now and try the fixes mentioned in google, thanks for your help guys, but I might be back.
