Question Windows 11 Explorer VERY slow

Hi,

By the beginning of this year, I went through the process of reinstalling Windows 11(Home) entirely. The OS is installed on a SSD. File indexing is done.
For some reason, Windows Explorer hangs (in other words, I'll see a looping circle on a folder and it will show as "not responding" if I click on it).

I can only access my file with Explorer++. On the other hand, I can even read videos with VLC without any "lag".

I also have Lively Wallpaper running on the background. I tried to use my PC without it of course. Also try to turn off all services I don't need, just to make sure.

You can view CrystalDiskMark results on this link. Please let me know if you need additional information.

Kind regards,
Aurélien.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, refurbished, used)?

Disk drives: make, model, capacity, how full?

Use Task Manager and Resource Monitor to observe system performance.

Use both tools but only one tool at a time.

Boot as normal but do not start Windows Explorer.

Open one of the tool windows and simply observe what the system is doing. For the part that is comprised of what system resources are being used, to what extent, and what is using any given resource.

Leave the tool window open and viewable., Then start Windows Explorer and see what changes.

It may take a bit of trial and error to work placing and sizing the windows so those sort of actions do not interfere with what may actually be happening.

Another tool that can be used is Process Explorer (Microsoft, free), Process Explorer can be used in much the same way.

Watch closely: For example, opening Windows Explorer could be triggering (via Task Scheduler) some other app to run and that app grabs some system resource.

Key being to discover what the system is doing or trying to do when the "circling" keeps going on and on.
