Windows 7 using more ram for idle the longer I keep it on

When I first start up my computer it uses about 1gb of ram for idle, which I'm fine with, but the longer my computer stays on the more ram it uses for idle. Right now my computer has been running for 8 hours and is currently using about 5gb of ram just in idle.
The weird part is the programs shown in task manager don't add up to nearly 5gb. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Will it use all of your RAM?

I've never had it fill up all of the ram. I've been restarting my computer when it gets to 5gb. I'll try to see if it will fill up all of the ram.

That's normal for windows -- they have added Pre-fetch which will attempt to fill RAM with info that might be needed based on your previous usage habits rather than letting the RAM sit empty until you actually need it and then taking the time to load that info in an attempt to make the system run faster -- If you need the RAM for something other than the info it has pre fetched it will release the RAM as needed so it doesn't really cause any slow down and might actually make things run faster (if for example you always use the same programs - it will learn and have parts of those programs loaded into RAM before you actually go to open them saving loading time) So what you are seeing is normal andnothing to worry about.
