That's why i'm paranoid about ALLWAYS getting the latest drivers from the chips manufacturer whenever possible (not the mobo or laptop support pages... they allways old drivers and generic most the time anyways)
My ACER Aspire 3680 (upgraded from a Celeron to a C2D T5500, up to 2GB of RAM from 512MB and with an 320GB WD Caviar Black HDD) is running Win8 steady and solid with 0 (ZERO) drivers from the ACER website!!! Guess what, no broken updates, no BSOD's, just solid computing!
Wasn't a fan of the 8, but it gets better over time and right now, i've allmost forgot abou not having Start menu... Dealing with it like i used to deal with Windows 3.1, get the Windows resized and make everything on hand on the desktop
