If only they would just make it cheaper. I can't afford to buy 4-5 copies at $100 a piece. Id rather buy new hardware than pay for a $99 sticker for each pc in my house.

[citation][nom]Razor512[/nom]make sure that you didn't turn into a thief while offline.[/citation]

What do you mean, "turn into"? Anyone who uses a computer is automatically a thief, just look at the comments from game publishers.

Somehow I think it's somewhat related to Chromium OS.

Then again, I'm against from any cloud-service stuff. It's not like I want to share everything... Plus, what about security? Not to mention if the server went down, everyone can't use it. Windows Live was a good example... I remember once there was a downtime of the services, took time to recover.

Expect to see it fail Microsoft.

As I'm guessing may have already been said here, since I didn't read through all of the comments, Windows piracy is actually SUPER easy. Seriously, with Windows 7 especially, a 5 year old could do it. It's just as simple as installing the boot-loader like any other program. PC game piracy is MUCH tougher to do, IMO (Not really, if you know what you're doing, but remember I'm talking about a 5 year old doing it). As far as cloud based computing goes, I think it'll be a boon for ease of access to your stuff when you need it, of course, but really, how many casual users really need that type of connectivity.

Why would I trust Microsoft to secure my private data in the cloud? They have a track record of allowing invasion of my privacy over a decade long.

But I guess we have all become accustomed to Microsoft violating our unalienable rights. When I buy other copyrighted material(like a book), I don't have to prove I am not a thief before I use it. I guess software is different... I'm guilty until proven innocent, and I don't just have to prove I am innocent once, I get to do it over and over again.

Ditto for DRM, who anoited Microsoft the DEA of copyright infringement?

Everyone needs to start making cloud based viruses to get all these fools off the ideals that cloud based computing is the future... NO it's not. And personally if ANYTHING uses cloud based services, I remove it from my computer.

I am really tired of the "cloud" business being shoved down our throats. I do not want my stuff sitting out on a network available to the rest of the world. I work in the technology field and guess what...I trust my ability to protect my data. If I ever have a need to access data that currently resides on my machines at home I will use my VPN.

I have no use for my OS or DATA residing on some cloud....especially one from Microsoft. We are suppose to believe they can keep that secure or away from prying eyes and fingers?

After reading several comments here, I must say that it really remembers me at the "The iPhone Antenna Song".

Translated for this purpose:

"Hey! I've got an idea...
Let's all sing this song! It goes...

If you don't want Windows 8
Don't buy it
If you bought it and you don't like it
Bring it back

If you don't want Windows 8
Don't buy it
If you bought it and you don't like it
Bring it back

*sing sing sing*

For those that say that refuse to use the "cloud":

Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, and GMail anyone?

We've used the "cloud" for over a decade for web mail, so...
