[SOLVED] Windows not running rams in their full Mhz speed

hello hardware experts... plz help

my Mobo is GA-H61M-DS2 (rev. 4.0)

Info regarding memory Rams

i am using Corsair 4gb memory

By default it runs in DRAM freq - 665mhz

after OC (Overclocking -XMP) corsair DRAM freq goes to - 798mhz

in this (XMP) change thru Bios - advanced memory settings, i notice little performance boost.


Now...
yesterday in nxt empty slot i inserted another DDR3 memory stick of kingston.. same size of 4gb.. same freq...

Now one thing i notice that the rams are not running in 798Mhz DRAM Freq

if i use them separately one by one than they run in that 798mhz.. but when i use them together.. they fall back to 665mhz

that 798 is its default speed ....wherz in corsair i have to OC (XMP) thru bios settings to make it 798mhz aka 1600mhz speed

Now see when i use both ram... its speed falls to Dram 665mhz aka 1333mhz

Why this happening ? even both ram are of same size & frequency !
is this due to some of its diff Timings/ Latencies.. just check below pic.. at 800 speed both have diff CL /CAS

but at 665or666 they matched 9-9-9-24 ... is this why both ram running in that matched speed..timings.. instead of 800mhz freq



memory configuration has changed to the lower speed when both rams r installed
can Change RAM timings from 11-11-11-28 to 9-9-9-24 t make them run at 800mhz
thru bios settings !

DDR means Double Data Rate. This means the RAM sends twice the amount of data compared to SDRAM (Single Data RAM).

This means you double the Base Frequency (in your case 800MHz) to calculate the "Effective Clock", which in your case is 1600MHz.

Some programs read the base frequency, other read the effective clock - so you can have two different programs on one PC showing the two different frequencies, and both are correct - as long as they are for example 800 and 1600 MHz.
Motherboards don't even neccesarily show one or the other, it can differ between manufacturers.

Task Manager just report the data it is fed, which can be differnt on different motherboard models.

If CPU-z on your PC reads ~800MHz, that means your RAM are running 1600MHz, as CPU-z always displays the base frequency, which you always multiply by two for DDR RAM.

As far as I can see, your RAM are running exactly as they are supposed to.


EDIT: I got lost between some of your photos, and overlooked the 667 MHz part.

Just ignore that I wrote they were running the right speed 😛

they wont work since one of them use cas9 to get 800 and the other use case 11 so you have choice use the cas 11 or 9 or get new set that will match your system need and they go toghether at 665 because they use same jedec settings .

Is there any tweak/settings in bios or some app which can match their time and run them in 800mhz ! Will it work smoothly.

And is this corsair better than Kingston??

I mean at max latency/timing 9-9-9-24 it give default DRAM speed of 665mhz and to get 800mhz I need to do overclock/XMP it.

Wherz Kingston default DRAM speed is of 800mhz at 11-11-11-28.... There nothing like XMP /profile settings for this ram.

return it you will lose you time to try to have them work at the fastest and do overclock for the ram there are both good maker so made sure you got that been tested on qvl list of your board maker or ram maker .

Your ram has different timings, they will default to the lowest settings. You might be able to find some used CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9 4GB on Ebay to match your original ram, they don't make the DDR3 9-9-9-24 timings ram anymore. I Maxed my old socket 775 boards out with 16GB and mine will not run faster than the CPU. I have a quad that runs at 1600Mhz and my ram runs 1600 MHz @ 9-9-9-24, the other CPU runs at 1333Mhz but because it is 1600Mhz ram the timings auto adjusted to 8-8-8-20 @ 1333Mhz. ,Ballistix Sport 16GB Kit (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 : BLS2KIT4G3D1609DS1S00, Great ram, they don't make it anymore. Low density will work in just about any DDR3 board.
