Windows resolution changes on restart

Hello, when my boss docks his laptop(original res 1024x768) and boots - the output on the external display starts at 1280x1024(displays native res) which is fine, but once the user login process is finished and it starts the startup process the res changes to 1024x768. It can be changed to the displays native res but it'll only keep the settings untill the reboot. Seen many posts on this topic and many solutions, including downloadnig an external app, but is there a straightforward way to solve the issue internally ? Any help will be appreciated

Try setting the resolution directly from the video card settings, not from the display proprieties.
Many video cards, like Nvidia, Ati, and many other has its own display/control panel tab and settings. Change res from there.

Thanks for the reply) I tried that and it makes no impact. My next step would be configuring the hardware profiles I guess. Hope it works)
