Windows Update not working in WinXP

I made a clean WinXP installation today. I run windows update and i chose the updates i wanted to install but i cannot download anything. The modem does not receive data from microsoft and after 1 min the installation times out. I cannot even see the info page for each update (it writes webpage unavailable or something like that). It's like the download server is down. Does anyone else has the same problem?

P.S. Before this installation i was able to install the updates with the same hardware configuration

Tried 4 secs ago, nothing... Even in the agreement window that pops up when i click install it writes "Action canceled. Internet Explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested. The page might be temporarily unavailable"

I am trying to find the updates in the ms site and install them manually but its a little difficult (at least compared to windows update). I got 2 critical updates installed until now!

Did u check ur settings under group policy?

They are the default and i am using the admin account
