Hello,

I am having trouble with my PC, it's very powerful and smooth running but recently it's been taking about 6 attempts to log into Windows. Once i'm in everything is fine, but i keep having to hard reset my PC because the welcome wheel spins non-stop and won't let me in. somtimes it doesn't even get to the part where i'm able to type my password.

At the moment it's just pot luck that it will work eventually, but I would like to know for sure what's going on because it's taking a long time to get up and running each day.

Specs
CPU: Ryzen 3970X Threadripper
GPU: 3090 & 2080 TI
RAM: 128GB
OS: Windows 10

Try booting into Safe Mode to test the software hanging. If it boots up with no problems, try again a few times to confirm stability. From there it can be diagnosed more easily. Let us know how you go for further steps. Cheers

Run chkdsk on your OS drive ( chkdsk C: /f ) and
diagnose your OS drive with HDtune health.

BTW - why two graphics cards?
What's full model name of your PSU?
Such config would require 1200W PSU minimum.

Booting in safe mode works perfectly with no hang. I tested a fewe times to make sure. Thanks.

I tried to do this but everytime I restart and it runs the check i cannot get logged back in properly and have to hard reset until i can get in again. I did run a check though properties > tools and i came back with no errors.

I have the 2 gpu's for 3D rendering. I can't say the exact PSU model but its a corsair 1000W I have never had any power issues.

Ok, at least Safe Mode gets you in and stable. It can eliminate many actual hardware component issues if it stays stable in safe mode. Many problems are caused by faulty drivers, damaged/corrupted windows files and windows updates, corrupted services/files, additional installed software that is incompatible or configured to startup when normal bootup happens.
Try a scan and repair of the windows file system by typing the commands into an administrator command prompt. Try one then the other..

sfc /scannow

Then...

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

See what it returns.

If both scan/repair commands return that everything is ok then you can try further narrowing down particular items/services that load and start on bootup.
1. Type 'MSCONFIG' (no quotes) in windows search box and go to Selective Startup - then Untick (Load Startup Items) then re-boot and see if its stable.
2. If no success with Startup Items then re-tick Startup Items and Untick (Load System Services) then re-boot. It will load with a very basic windows configuration with limited services.
This will help to narrow down the cause of the hanging bootup. If it is either of these groups, then we can troubleshoot from there. Cheers

This is the result of both commands
