I recently purchased a hauppauge 2250 tv tuner card for my pc. I am running windows 7 64 bit. I have a netgear wndr3300 router a surfboard cable modem and avg free anti virus software. With the tv tuner came software to extend tv shows to an iPad within a home network and remotely from outside a home network. I have setup port forwarding and was able to get the tv extended to my iPad within my home network however when I run a test to see if I opened a port for outside the home network it says the port is closed. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks!

When you say forward to the specific IP address you mean the one with 192.168.1... right not my computers external IP address. If so I have already done that. If not how do I set that up?

You may not need to foward it to a specific address depends on the router and the setting you are using. The IP address would be an internal one ie: 192.168.1.xxx.

What do you have for anti-virus? do you use windows firewall? if you do you may need to add exceptions there too. You could try disabling your AV and Windows firewall all together and checking if the iPad can access it then. That would either tell us its a setting on the computer or the router.

Edit: For quick port checking try this: http://www.canyouseeme.org/

I use the free version of AVG and yes I had the windows firewall enabled. I disabled both tried using that quick port checking website but it still came up the port was closed. When it did the search however it was using my external ip address. I can access wintv with my ipad in the home network but not outside of the network.

That website will be using your external address, as that is how your iPad would connect back to your network correct?

Since turning off the computers firewall didn't help I will be a setting on the router related to port fowarding/ port triggering, that is where I would look first.

I do NOT recommend this for long term usage but to test it, you could put your computer's IP address in for a DMZ host, which will disable the firewall completely for your computer, save the setting and try out that website again. (you may or maynot need to reboot the router)

How do i go about doing this
