Hey, got very weird issues with my networking.

I have a TPLINK N600 router, which has wireless network name "roommates" (both on 2.4 and 5).
In the past I have linked extender to this router, going under the name "roommates_2.4_EXT".

Few days ago I have finally moved the router next to my PC, which allowed me to link Ethernet connection directly to my PC.

Now two weird issues came:
  1. A lot of online services stopped working while I have my ethernet connection - services like EA Origin, some VOD services and prob more.
  2. My network changed into roommates_2.4_EXT when I plug in the ethernet connection, although the extender is long gone few months ago. How it possible? seems like my computer treats the ethernet connection as different network than my wireless, and using the name it shouldn't know.
I'd like to avoid a factory reset to my router since I'm not fully sure I remember the ISP connections and its some serious pain in the a** to contact them and retrieve it again.

Any ideas on how can I resolve these two issues?

Solution
What is the IP address on that second floor Netgear Nighthawk? How is the access point configured?

If I am understanding the network setup correctly that access point should have its DHCP disabled and have a static IP address assigned to the access point via the TP-Link router.

The assigned static IP address should be outside of the DHCP IP address range allowed to the TP-Link router and the static IP address should be reserved for the access point via the Access point's MAC.

I do not see any "192" static IP's in the arp -a results.

Check your computer. Ensure that only one network adapter (either wired or wireless as desired) is enabled.

On your computer run "ipconfig /flushdns" (without quotes) via the Command Prompt.

If the problem continues, run "ipconfig /all" via the Command Prompt and post the results.

The name does not really matter it is mircosoft being too smart for its own good. It many times does not know how you have connected to the network but sees the same IP or maybe the same router. I am unclear how it picks this name sometimes. It really is just a string of text and does not mean much.

Why origin does not work is something else. I would use the option to disable the firewall on your PC temporarily. Windows again is too smart and sometime it will decide your pc is on a public network and put in rules that pretty much only allow simple web surfing.

Flipped my wired network to private as suggested in the 2nd comment, flushed DNS - not works.

What information should I hide when posting the ipconfig /all?

Yes: "ipconfig /all" can be very helpful - nothing to really hide there.....

I am always curious about the "world" as a computer sees it with respect to other devices and IP addresses.

Run and post the results of "arp -a" via the Command Prompt.

Not noting anything astray via "arp -a" or "ipconfig /all".

You do have at least two other network devices using the DHCP IP addresses of 192.168.1.106 and192.168.1.108 - are there any other devices? Are you able to identify those two devices via IP address or MAC?

Is either one the extender? Make and model? How is the extender connected and configured?

Connectivity:

ISP ----> Modem ----ethernet cable --->[WAN] TP N600 [LAN] ---- ethernet cable ---> wired devices and

~~~~ wireless ~~~~ > wireless devices.
Make and model modem. Where is the extender?
Edit and correct my line diagram as necessary.
Run and post the results of "tracert 8.8.8.8"
Ok the instructions are bit confusing but ill try the best to answer:
1. other devices - I have xiaomi smart tv, LIFX smart bulbs, chromecast and laptops around
2. There indeed an extender - NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 functioning as access point on second floor. (linked through ethernet cable to TPLINK modem)
3. My PC connection is directly into the TPLINK, there is no middle hardware both in wired and wireless connections.
