So the title says it all really, I'm having problems with my wired internet connection.

I'm currently running Windows 10 with the cable running from a wireless extender plugged in to the mains. The wireless is fine, as are the connections in the rest of the house.

I get one of two error messages running the troubleshooter

1. Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings
2. Local area connection doesn't have a valid ip configuration

I've tried all of the online solutions, resetting and flushing etc.

Any more advice? Or could the wireless card just need replacing?

How is the computer connected?

E.g.:

Window 10 computer [LAN]------ethernet cable -----[LAN]wireless extender <~~~~wireless~~~~> Router

Are you sure that you only have the wired adapter enabled on the computer and not both wired and wireless?

And "plugged into the mains" does that mean you are using powerline adapters along the way?

Please clarify or correct my connection diagram as necessary.
