- Device: Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 (optical mouse with tilt wheel)
- Problem: The mouse doesn't react to movement or clicking. It also prevents my keyboard (Not sure about the manufacturer, but it says "Windows Certified" on it so it should be compatible) from working.

I followed the step-by-step instructions in the manual thinking that I would be scrolling away in no time. After completing the installation I restarted the computer and plugged the mouse in, and neither the mouse or my keyboard would work. I restarted again and double-checked that I did everything as explained in the manual. I also tried troubleshooting which obviously didn't work either.

- restarted computer several times
- software for previous mouse has been removed
- changed the connecting channel and tried to reconnect the mouse
- reinstalled the software and double-checked that I did everything right
- even checked that the batteries are inserted correctly, even though I could clearly see that the mouse was on
- Tried both, the USB and PS/2 connection for the mouse
- There's nothing that could be interfering with the signal

It just sounds like the wireless connection is not being made. It also
sounds like you have done just about everything we could suggest. Have
you tried using both PS/2 and USB at the same time? Try turning the
computer off, plug in both PS/2 and USB, turn on the computer, and try
connecting. Also, does the computer even detect the wireless transciever
or keyboard or mouse? Is the keyboard wireless as well and are you
using two wireless transcievers or do they work together?

I got the mouse working partially. It works fine if i plug it in without restarting windows, but as soon as I restart the computer it stops working. Removing the software that came with the mouse might be helpful so i'll try that when i have the time.

The keyboard is not wireless so i'm only using one transciever. I haven't tried using both USB and PS/2 at the same time since I have no idea how to do that. I'm not sure if the computer detects the mouse, don't have the time to check that right now.

I have a couple MS Multimedia keyboards that have both USB and PS/2. I
plug them both in and it works fine. It should be pretty easy to see
where they go once you look at the back of the computer.
