wireless will not connect

I have a compaq presario f572us laptop. under network adapter in the device manager it says its a nvidia nforce networking controller. the laptop suddenly stopped being able to connect wireless to my router. all other wireless computers in my house work fine. when i plug a cable into this laptop the internet works but wireless will not. im using vista and if i diagnose why it cant find any networks it says to install hardware or check if you have correct drivers. I am thinking the wireless adapter is just completely broken but i hope not please help if you can.

sounds dumb but if you have a wireless switch on your laptop check if it is turned off

i found another forum that with pages of people with the same problem. only thing to do is send it in but everything is free since it is a known problem.
