Wondering if this trade is better, worse, or even.

Hey toms,

A friend of a friend of mine is looking for a laptop and offered my friend his desktop for an even trade. I'm not the best at comparing laptops vs desktops. Besides mobility of a laptop and other factors like that, are these an even, (if not better) trade?

MSI GT 70 (friends)

i7 4800 MQ Quad Core
GTX 870 M
3G graphics card RAM

Alienware R2 x51 (friend of friend)

i5 - 4460
GTX 760 Ti
1 TB hard drive
memory - unsure at this time
mobo - unsure at this time
psu - unsure

including 1080 monitor + Alienware keyboard
lots of games like GTA5, Dark Souls 2, MK X, and Crysis, .... etc

again - asking for a friend of a friend, will update (or he will) as he gets more info

Thanks for the help all!

Solution
There is a 760 ti, it was only in the Alienware X51 though from what i can tell.

Personally i would keep the laptop, and not trade for the desktop. Portable, more powerful processor, dedicated graphics card is pretty powerful and has 3GB of VRAM compared to the 2GB of VRAM on the 760ti.

no such thing as 760 ti, but i compared the 2 gpus, and the 760 is better. this trade is uneven and shouldnt be done, plus your desktop friend can upgrade if needed.

Please do a bit of research before saying something does not exist.

I was thinking the same thing, do you not believe that the "room for upgrading" is a better solution? Sure the laptop is better now, but my friend can throw some new parts in the desktop over time, whereas the laptop he's stuck with it. Thank you for the immediate response btw.

The Alienware X51 is a pretty small case. Supplied inside is either an 240 watt or 330 watt power supply, so upgrading options are limited depending on what power supply is included. Recommended GPU size for the X51 is 9.5", so also limited for options there as well.
