Hi everyone, got a tasty one for anyone who´s willing to help

My dad has put me in charge of getting a new machine for his work since the old one is already tired and its impossible to maintain the workflow. He owns a local publicity and design shop, mostly uses CorelDraw (still on the 2015 version) for image editing.
The current machine is heavily outdated, currently with 4gb of ram and radeon card, cant remember which one, anyways it has to go and its already years late.
So I´ve built a gaming machine for me but didnt know how to build one for editing and design, so I went to a well renowned pc builder in the area and he pointed me in a direction I did not expect and I really doubt its the best approach. He recommended us a recondicioned build (cant attach image but the full name is HP Z600 2XL5640 16GB W7 PRO) which is a dual processor z600 HP workstation and he then proceded to add a 1TB ssd and a GTX1650 OC 4gb. Everything would run us like 800€ or more cant remember. The thing even ran DDR3 rams, not to mention that it is used...

Is this good for everyday work? Isnt it better going with new parts and aim for longevity? Should I build one on my own? I kinda lost, I´ve built 1 pc in my life, the man has built hundreds

Would really appreciate the guidance

Edit: Really appreciated the help here, and quick too, will be returning to this website

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Can you stylize your thread's initial post or a followup post with info asked for in this thread;
?

Also, are you able to parse a link to the reconditioned build that you're looking at? I wouldn't invest in a used system when you're bread and butter depends on being on your A-game on any given day. A workstation should be reliable, not something that's down for the count(due to troubleshooting).

So, going here:
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite | Free Trial

And landing on "specs" shows this program will run on pretty much anything, and this is the newest version. The only items specifically mentioned for more performance was in relation to RAM and storage.

Obviously, any user experience can be heavily influenced by the power of the components.

Something like this may benefit from ECC RAM, and even 'office' machines can be built that will utilize it. In a situation like this it would seem that building something current, priced right, and with plenty of RAM and drive space, even if a "gaming" system should work fine.

You could do something like this. Just add a graphics card, case and Windows 11.

Well running the program is rather easy, the problem is when we have multiple tabs openned with lots of heavy files on them. The question was really if the system he recommended would be worth considering
thanks for answering

In that respect, no I would not pay 800 Euro for a system of that spec, on Windows 7 especially, unless there was some specific need for said. You didn't mention that you had to be on an unsupported OS, so no.

Coreldraw by itself does not have high reqs but then you get into what do you want to do with the app.

I might consider a 12500...just to get the better igp...16GB of ram and a ssd for storage.

It will certainly be better than what dad has now.
