Hello
I am Currently Using a
I5 4440
Gtx 960 4gb
8gb 1600mhz ram

I am having a bit of trouble choosing b/w A rx 580 8gb and A gtx 1070
Both are used 1070 costs a lil bit higher

I want to know if it's worth to choose a gtx 1070 over a rx 580 for my current build as I am not planning to upgrade my cpu due to long held purchase for a 1080p monitor...

Which one should I go for rx 580 or gtx 1070 ??

The 1070 is much faster than the 580.

But, to be honest, I wouldn't upgrade.

That is a 7 year old mid tier cpu.
It just doesn't hold up in 2020.
You will obviously get more performance, but i'd save my pennies and get a new computer when I can a couple months down the road.

The 1070 is well faster than a 580 for gaming. I recall the 580 being a better mining card.

Either of those choices is going to use substantially more power than you are currently drawing. Do you have a good PSU?

I agree with a part of what is said here in that, your current system is actually (by appearance) a well balanced machine.

IMO ,if you are going to be in a position to upgrade your CPU/mobo/RAM at any point in the next year or so.....having something like a 1070 puts you into a VERY usable realm for 1080P gaming at high quality settings. A 960 you are fully aware, won't.
