I'm considering upgrading my PC to include a 9900k CPU, but I'm concerned about the chip's temperatures and the possibility of overheating affecting its performance. Would a cooling solution like the Corsair H100x be sufficient to keep the chip cool and prevent any performance issues?

The TDP is a mere 95w.

Lets round that up to 120w for overclocking, you need a cooler which will dissipate 120w. Your cooler is overkill, you`d easily pick up one that will do that for under £20. Obviously that`s not as pretty to look at through a side glass panel.

What is the make/model of your case?
Good cooling starts with the case, and cooling options depend on the case.

What cpu are you upgrading from?

What is your typical use?
Gaming will use relatively few cores and will not need that much cooling.
Multithreaded batch apps or overclocking will want a very good cooler.
