Write-Protected Memory Stick

Jun 7, 2012
I have a 32GB Memory Stick that I was using to transfer pictures from one Laptop to another. I copied the majority of the pictures on to the memory stick and then transferred them on to my other laptop. I then tried to delete the pictures off the memory stick but it says:

'The disk is write-protected.

Remove the write-protection or use another disk.'

If I then try to write to the Memory Stick again, I get the same error. When I right click on the USB and go to Properties, there are no options to remove Write Protection and if I try to format the USB to either FAT32 or NTFS it throws up the same error.

I have tried using Diskpart, Computer Management, deleting the WriteProtect file in the registry, but still no luck.

Could anyone please suggest any more solutions? I have no idea how the write-protection came about on it but I have found no way to remove it.

Any help would be much appreciated. :)

Thank You.
