X3 440 vs X3 720

I'm confused about which processor to get. I read the processor sticky guide and the best processor for the money that was posted.

I can get the X3 720 for $99 at a nearby store the retail one (brand new in box with fan)


Or I can get the X3 440 for $85 on newegg.

I will use this mostly for gaming (light gaming) WoW, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2. mostly blizzard games which aren't made too heavy.

Which is the way to go?

Hello, thank you for the reply. I think I do plan on overclocking it in the future. So I'm going to go with the X3 720, and also try to unlock the 4th core.

Will this motherboard work good with it?

for only $10 difference, I'd go for the 720.
That gigabyte is a good board. You can get a similar board from MSI as well, which I've found to be a very nice board, though its close to the same price and doesn't have USB3.0. That gigabyte is probably your best bet- especially since some of the user reviews mention unlocking the 4th core on some chips.

The extra cache on the 720 is well worth the extra money.

Second the II X3 730 recommendation... The Phenom II X3 are slightly better CPU's than Athlon II X3 440. Also, they have an L3 Cache, which the Athlon's don't.
