Sounds about right to me. Sure it may very well have been Kinney's Great....Great Grandpa crossing the border trying to get your land, and either yours or Cleeves Great...Great Grandpa putting the torch to the "White" House; Who knows. Anyway, no disresect meant to anyone, just stating for all I know that could be the case. All my relatives were in Norway then, so i had nothing to do with it.

Yep, good post Acer.

There is an ATI exclusive feature that everyone seems to either forget or ignore... and to me, it's far more relevant than shader model 3: Temporal Antialiassing

I'm really not sure why everyone doesn't use this feature. But taking the 2xAA performance hit and getting 4xAA effective in return is, I can assure you, a very very nice thing.

And it even works on my 'ol 9700 PRO. I can't wait to see what it can do on an X800 XL. 8xAA effective... with a 4xAA performance hit. Now that's real nice.

This feature is given far less props than it deserves, and does performance/IQ wonders TODAY... not like SM 3.0

Good point, "Temporal" AA is nice. The X800XL also has 3Dc which I assume Xenon will use--which inturn means many future cutting edge games will use it also.

Both are really nice cards, hard to go wrong either way.

I ended up buying the ATI X800XL with a new PCI-E system.

A64(939)3500+
1 gig RAM
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum

I considered the argument about shader 3.0, but I think that if that ever becomes really important before I upgrade next I'll just get a new card that has it. Not a big deal.

In the meantime, since I don't like Doom 3 that much, I bought a card that is as good as the 6800 GT in most other games (significantly better in Half-Life 2) for $100-$140 cheaper. I put the extra money into RAM and a faster Athlon 64 than I was going to get.

Yeah the Venoms are sweet, they've also been around for ever, solid company Hennessey, like Ruf, AMG or the OLD Calloway! 😎

The GT's nice, but there's just something about the Viper and TVRs that make them my fav CURRENT favs (959 and MacF1 all time Favs). Not that I'd turn down a GT either. :lol:

Hmm, and thus this proves my point of there often being lots of impressive stats and figures, but you can't use it. While perhaps the MAJORITY of the air breathing public can't handle those cars, it'd still be legal for the nitrous nosed to 0-70 them . And that was the point, which you missed, because...... I don't know why, but maybe you have a Murcielago poster on your headbord or something.

Street racing the pedestrian way = X850XTPE, Have enough money to rent/buy your own track (Dell 24" LCD, etc) or live in Germany (etc) = GF6800U/GT x 2 in SLI.

And that in effect is the point. Obviously you would've prefer Pauldh's Venom version to avoid YOUR confusion.
