Hello friends,

Im upgrading my system and it looks like this:

MSI Z97 gaming 3
I5-4670k
EVGA GeForce GTX 760
XFX PRO 650W
HAF 912
8 gb ram etc etc.

My problem is with the PSU. I thought this PSU was going to be a reliable quiet, all around decent PSU. But after building the new case and starting it I was extremly disappointed.

The PSU is REALLY loud, it sounds like the fan is running at 100% speed, even if it is at idle. All I can hear when the system is on is this god damn PSU.

I took the XFX PSU out and put in my old (very old) Corsair TX650W, and I can barely hear the fans. It's almost completely silent.

Is this a know thing about the XFX PSUs? I was under the impression that this PSUs was solid and pretty quiet.

I'm probably gonna return it. Do any off you guys have any suggestions to a quiet reliable PSU?

Thanks.

Thanks for the answer.

I think I will send it back and try a replacement(same model etc). The reason why I "upgraded" the corsair PSU was because the corsair was kind off starting to act up. If I would move the computer to a new socket and switch over the "on/off" button on the PSU, I would get like a sharp electricity snap. Also whenever I turned of the computer my keyboard was still lighting up, as if it had power.

If you don't mind me asking, what would be some alternatives to XFX PSU? Around the 5-600w range prob.

well i suppose, 'a good deal' means you will have to pay additional money for the seasonic g , there isnt a reason to spend more really but if you insist have it your way.!

The site I bought the XFX PSU didn't have it in storage, any other site that makes sense for me to order at didn't have the XFX PSU in storage either. I found the Seasonic G at a reasonable price, and it was in storage.

So yes, spending a bit more money, and have the Seasonic PSU in a couple of days > wait a couple of weeks for the XFX PSU.

I live in a country that has ridic import taxes when it comes to ordering stuff from other countries, so that's my reasoning.
