Question XP boot disk and USB not working

I'm installing XP Sp3 on a friend's computer, clean install. I used a disk I've had for a while that apparently had some corrupt patches due to scratches and in turn caused a blue screen during install. Now I can't even get a boot disk to read in the drive.

I went to a USB and installed a bootable ISO with Rufus. Everything reads, and setup loads everything, but when it goes to the starting windows step at the end it blue screens. Please help why, and how to fix it please.

Thank you

1. Where did you acquire the install media? If you just ripped the disk to an ISO and created a bootable USB, you took the good & bad with it....

2. Starting Windows (likely) means it's now booting from the HDD/SSD, you're sure it's not the problem?

3. Why XP in 2020?

I've had the disk for 10 years and used it multiple times.

I'm in the boot menu choosing the usb, it was booting from the disk before the same way when using my old one.

He's 75 and used to xp and wants it. The computer only has 1gb ram and a 50 gb hdd and will only run xp.

I didn't know if I replied directly so I remade this reply with a quote.

Also, no I didn't just rip the disk. I downloaded 2 bootable isos from different reputable forums to try both.
