Hi,

I just built a new computer. When I boot it up, I need of course to have a boot record. So I put in my xp disk but nothing happens. It says boot record not found. I have changed the boot device order in the bios to have the cd drive read first. I dont know what else to do.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Yes I would assume the CD drive is hooked up correctly. It is detected in the bios and I can see that its there when it boots up. It spins and everything when a disk is put in.

I would have to assume the cd isn't working right. Try another if you have one.

Old age is a hoax.. Turns out to only be a severe back problem.

#1: This, i can assure you, is not a problem with XP. I am gUESSING that maybe the cable for CD-ROM isn't hooked up properly (I.E. The power cable is fine, but the other one isnt.
