Question XP-Pen 12 Pro works on laptop but not on PC (with GPU) ?

Hello ^^

I bought an XP-Pen 12 Pro, and it works perfectly on my laptop. I also checked the cables, and they seem fine.

However, on my desktop PC, the display doesn’t show anything, though it still functions as a regular drawing tablet (like the non-display ones). I also have a GPU, and my PC recognizes the tablet as a second monitor.

When I power on my PC, the tablet displays the boot screen, but as soon as the "Welcome" screen appears on Windows 10, it goes blank. The same issue happens on my friend's PC running Windows 11. However, when I boot into safe mode, the tablet works—but my main monitor goes blank. If I boot normally, my main monitor works, but the tablet doesn't.

For reference:
  • The XP Pen's HDMI is connected to the GPU, not the motherboard.
  • The red USB (for Tablet's power supply) is plugged into a wall socket.
  • All my PC’s USB ports are working (tested with a USB stick).

Fixes I've tried so far (none worked):

  • Reinstalling/updating the GPU driver
  • Reinstalling/updating XP Pen drivers
  • Changing resolution and refresh rate
  • Buying a new 3-in-1 cable
  • Buying a DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter
  • Switching between extended and duplicate displays
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

can you change settings in the installed driver menu?
is driver 4.0.6.241211 installed?

set the resolution to 1920x1080
set the tablet monitor in windows to monitor 2 and extend the desktop to it in windows settings
are you using the red cable with the extension cable or a direct cable USB-C to USB-C to wall plug?
try plugging the red cable to your pc

Helloo ^^

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes, I can change the settings in the driver menu (both AMD Adrenaline and XP Pen software). And yes, 4.0.6.241211 is installed.

1. Both my PC and XP-Pen are already set to a resolution of 1920 x 1080.

2. My tablet is already set as monitor 2. I have tried using both "Extend" and "Duplicate" settings, but neither worked.

3 - 4. According to the XP-Pen manual, the Red USB should be connected to a socket. Although I have already tried plugging it into my PC, it didn't work either.

Many thanks in advance!!

what happens if only the tablet is connected to the PC and no other monitor?

Helloo ^^

It only displays the booting stage (BIOS, I think?), then immediately goes blank when the Welcome page on Windows 11 shows up.

However, when I boot in safe mode, the tablet works perfectly, but my main monitor goes blank instead.

so without any other monitor connected and no other video cable in the computer and only HDMI connected to your tablet , your tablet shows nothing when windows starts as well? sorry for asking, but this is essential if something is wrong with the GPU or 2nd monitor, and just wanted to be sure we don´t misunderstand each other :)

Hello ^^

Yes, even when the tablet is the only monitor using HDMI (with no other video cables connected to the PC), it still goes blank after the BIOS boots.

Here’s what happens (Tablet is the only monitor connected):
PC turns on → Tablet displays the BIOS booting screen → Goes blank when it should show the Windows "Welcome" screen.

And if my main monitor is connected during a normal boot, the XP Pen goes blank, and the display switches to the main monitor, showing the "Welcome" screen.

I'm 100% sure the display tablet isn’t defective since it works perfectly on my laptop.

Thanks!!
