XP Professional Installation problem

I am reinstalling XP on my laptop and I get an error saying that:

"Setup cannot copy th file p3.sys"

XP has worked fine on this system until I tried to reinstall it. I am using the system disk that came with the laptop. Is there any way to fix this?

Is it a Reinstallation - or Recovery disc? If it's a recovery, you should be able to get a replacement from the store (or the manufacturer.)

Your disc may be problematic. A lot of them deteriorate. Borrow someone else's oem Pro and, if successful, enter your key when prompted.

If you still get copy errors, then your cd drive is ng. Swap it out.
