xp question/cdrom

hi, figured i'd give xp a try and mess with it for a couple days. k has anyone else noticed this, when installing xp your cdrom is keeps going fast and slow, fast and slow? when it would be copying over files during the install, it would sound like it was running at full tilt, then in like 3 secs it would go back down to like it was idle, then go back to running at full again. i never remember noticing this in win2000 installs or before, any input is great, thanks.

If it installs correctly it's fine. There are many reasons for that to happen, and it has happened under win2k. What's your cd drive?

no, i just went back to win2000 (didn't care for winXP at all). i don't get that at all during w2k setup or during app installs in w2k. i got an afreey 56x. was just wondering if it was my cable or the setup (cause i recently rounded/spliced all my cables). i didn't think i caught any wires but wasn't sure.

always with one shoe untied and never finding the other.
