Ok when I install XP 2. Does it delete my service pack 1?

No a backup of your current SP1 setup is created and SP2 is installed. If
you wish to revert back to SP1 you can do so through Add and Remove
Programs.

So if I wanted to go back to SP1? I would click SP 1 in A/R programs?

Also how long does it take to install and download over a DSL connection?

Hi,

Delete? No, not quite. Replace? Yes. SP2 contains all the updates that are
found in SP1, plus all the critical updates since then.

Actually you would click Windows XP SP2 and then the Remove button

If you are installing SP2 through the Windows Update Site your system will
be checked to see what is needed. The update is smaller if you have been
keeping your Critical Updates current under SP1. But if you did a fresh
install of XP without SP1 and then used the Windows Update Site it will take
considerably longer. If you choose to download the full version of SP2 and
install it from your drive you are looking at a 270MB download. Depending on
your download speed this may take a few minutes to an hour. It will take a
very long time on Dial Up.

Why bother with a download. Staples has the SP2 CD or you can order it from
here:

Why do they always want to take down your personal info details before they
give you a price for anything these days? Surely, whether I am interested or
not depends on how much it is gona cost. It is as though the price one has
to pay is immaterial these days. Very annoying.


Would I like a real nice juicy steak served in nice surroundings? For $10 or
$20 dollars, yes, I would be interested but for $300 -- no thank you. You
can keep it.

Would I like a Rolls Royce? For 20 grand, yes, for 400 grand, no thank you.
Is the RR a nice car. NO! Not for the money it costs. I'd rather have a
Merc. So you see, price IS important and should always be stated first.

Well, the price is $0.00. In other words, Free! And they tell you that up
front.

And all they really ask is where to send the free CD, and which language you
want. That doesn't sound very intrusive to me.

Personally, I'd recommend everyone order the CD, even with a broadband
connection. The price is right and you'll have it if you ever need it.
