I have 3 systems that I have tried to install XP SP2 on. On one it completed
successfully, on the other 2 it hung up on registering iischema.dll.

1756.957: Starting process: C:\WINDOWS\system32\regsvr32.exe /s
C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\iischema.dll
3529.666: Return Code = 1

The service pack installation will continue to completion on the 2 hung
systems if I kill the regsvr32.exe process from Task Manager.

After a reboot I have tried to manually register iischema.dll. The regsvr32
process still locks up.

Any insite into the problem or ways to resolve would be appreciated.

Have you don't major cleaning before trying to install.

Spyware Removal (free)
www.spysweeper.com

Ad-Aware SE (free) (Download, Update & Run)

Download and Run a free virus scanner to double check your current one.

Try to download it to a folder then disconnect from the internet and disable
all virus & firewall software before going to the folder and downloading it.
