Glad you like it.
The border around programs is thin(1 pixel), but it still retails the 5-6 pixel grab area for re-sizing and some windows(as long as not in full screen on start) will not open right on that 1pixel border but instead be pushed over 5 or so pixels(this may be a compatibility thing). Windows 8/8.1 has single color borders, but they are thick like Windows 7 borders. They look thicker because they are one color and have no round edges.

You can rename the This PC with ease

These are a few things done to my Windows 10 to make it work better for me.

One thing I do like with Explorer is the Quick Access. You can put any folder, any drive up there...or NOT. In Win7, you always saw all your drives, even if you didn't use them very often...the DVD, for example. A folder needed a link. In Win 10, the selected folder can be added just by clicking on Quick Access.

For me Windows 10 UI is not user friendly as compared to Windows 8.1. On W10 there's a lot of icon available that you don't really need. I switched back to W8.1 after my Google Chrome keeps crashing yesterday. I am not sure if I'd want to switch to W10 again, as I've heard some have compatibility issues right now.

Did you uninstall/reinstall Chrome? I did after having the same issues, and it works flawlessly for me now.

So far, my experience with the Edge browser is not so rosy. Some websites and/or images don't load properly, favorites will not sync to OneDrive, Adblock Plus is not compatible, and I had to use Internet Explorer to upload this image:

You realize that image has been banned in 23 countries as a torture implement...

I'm not terribly surprised that Edge won't load some sites. MS tends to implement non-MS standards in...creative ways sometimes.

Edge is definitely in it's infancy and quite problematic in my opinion too.
Performance & compatability seem to be commented on everywhere. I guess that's one thing we'll see in the earlier updates.
That being said, I use Chrome predominantly, so it's not a huge issue for me, but I can definitely see how it might be for some people - especially given all the press/hype around 'Edge' before launch!

I think it you manually add it to Quick access it should work like the old favorites from Windows 7. The only downside is you can not rename things in Quick access. I made it so quick access does not auto add things either. It has just what I pin to it.

Windows 10 with the DVD drive pinned(then unpinned after)

Windows 7 with the DVD drive pinned and renamed. Windows 7 is a bit more customization options.

isn't that the problem tho. Microsoft shouldn't release half completed software. People will try it and realize it's buggy and simply go back to their good old browser. So once again edge will be looked over.

Just the fact that there are no ad block was enough for me to switch back to my good old opera browser

This is a potential issue for sure. Most users will decide soon after install what they like and do not like.

Is there a flash blocker for Edge?

I think we'll see blockers, of course, and sooner rather than later. It can take a while, and I don't know how much of Edge's APIs to implement these things are available, or when they became available. Until they do, tho, I can absolutely understand using a different browser.

Microsoft shouldn't release half completed software.

A good goal, but not practical. When has the initial release of ANY version of Windows not had its issues here and there? And Windows is not alone on this by any means...Android 5.0 had warts all over it. If you don't want to risk the warts, WAIT a few months before adopting it. IT department adage: never upgrade the OS until the first major revision/service pack is released.

I am not sure I would say EVER. before high speed internet(or even home internet to begin with), companies had to try harder than todays release and patch later developers. Overall, I do not find 10 THAT bad, XP had more bugs at release for me. Windows 8 was very solid when it came out for me(even in pre-release).

I think the re-write of start has caused some issues. the taskbar and START are separate and search is part of Cortana. If one crashes the others look to be fine and then you have to wait while Windows realizes it has to restart it.

Next time anyone uses Cortana tell it to sing you a song. I did not expect it to listen to that command. It is also pretty good at identifying songs(thanks to grace note most likely. I think they listed as using it).

Even being gimmicky on desktop, I could see some future use for Cortana(even better if it can issue app-commands to skip forward and whatnot in any program).

gangrel,
You can turn Flash off in Edge. But you can still get other ads popups and redirects. Overall ad blocking will make a bigger difference than the death of flash.

Joseph DeGarmo,
Thanks for point out that software. While it is subscription based, if the blocking is good it may be worth the price of admission(having the mobile version may also be good for many users.).

My computer - AMD 8GB ram, 64 bit, 3.10GHz, maybe 4 years old, originally XP Pro. Upgraded to 10 from 8.1. All files and programs are fine after upgrade. My wife's computer - bought last year - 12 GB ram, IBUYPOWER, started out as Windows 8.1. Upgrade went fine, except video driver went to basic adapter. I could not find any updated driver online, neither could computer. I downloaded the AMD video detecter and it could not determine which card I had. On the same AMD website, even telling it which card I had, I could not find a driver. I finally got the original setup disk out and told Windows to use the driver in compatibility mode for Windows 8. Now it is OK, but I think Windows 10 should have used the installed graphics driver, especially being as it worked.

Didn't care for Cortana's privacy invasion/psych-profiling (enabling) capability: I don't need advertisers targeting me based on psych-profiles, user data (spending habits/sites visited.) I want to be able to say yes or no without the psychological warfare: Why should my wants and needs become an exploitable opportunity for those who would be too happy to bankrupt me for their profit? Don't target me, and don't manipulate me for sales, while claiming to be doing ME a favor.

That said, I also didn't like having my MS Office 2010 Home and Student edition uninstalled. I couldn't find the box I bought with the serial key - made it the last straw for me and, uninstalled the garbage. Looks like my next OS upgrade is going to be a Mac or a Linux OS.

Oh, I didn't care for the Start menu "Scrolling wheel" either. Spin, spin, spin... where did it go??? Really?

Seems that Microsoft's corporate board of directors were body snatched by a bunch of ethically questionable Ferengi.

What video card did the IBUYPOWER system have?

I have seen some "Custom" rebrands from HP(Dell has the same thing too) in the past.

I actually flashed changed the card ID(copied the cards firmware edited it) and re flashed it. Now AMD drivers work fine on it. It sells as a 7570, but it is actually a 6570(and it shows because the card has no ZEROcore) with slower memory.

One could just edit the drivers INF file to add the card as well, but that has to be done over and over.

My experience with Windows 10 Pro is great. I did the upgrade from Windows 8.1 and a clean install after that; everything has been working perfectly. The only problem I have is that Sound Blaster Cinema doesn't work, but it's not a big problem because I don't use it. It seems like MS has my settings, so when I set up with my existing MS account, my laptop is ready to go: saved passwords, forms, bookmarks, wireless passwords,...

I use drivers directly from Windows 10 instead of from the manufacturer, and there's no problem so far.

MS Edge is so much better than IE. There are websites which I have to use Chrome because IE doesn't work correctly, but now I can use Edge to view those websites without any problem.

The best thing is that Windows 10 seems to be faster than Windows 8/8.1.

However, there're still existing issues. My Bluetooth speaker often doesn't connect to my laptop automatically. I have to turn BT function off and on again so that it can connect. Another problem is that there's no sound in Counter-Strike Global Offensive when connecting to a BT speaker. I have to disconnect BT speaker in-game, and then turn it back on.

Also, MS Edge doesn't have "Save link as...". Why did they get rid of it?

I always have bad experiences with voice command. I'm not an English native speaker. People can understand me in real life without any problem, but when it comes to voice command, I have to say VERY loud.

So, the user at the following link has indicated something that I too have seen:

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2769587/install-asus-suite-windows.html

I have encountered some executables that either do nothing in windows 10 when clicked, or bring up the "Open with" dialogue. They are installer executables that are known good and work on other systems. Any ideas on this? Others work fine. Is this maybe a lack of support for some compression or cabinet types? I know there are things like DVD player and Video player support, among others, that are no longer a part of 10 and require 3rd party applications now but I'd think running executables, regardless of how they were compiled, would be a non-issue.

My experience with windows 10 has been a catastrophe. First I encountered unknown installation errors, and after checking on Microsoft forums I decided to do a separate installation. In the end I completely removed windows 10 for 2 reasons:
- The RDP sessions with the firewall off on windows 10 with older clients stopped working (that happens usually to weaker processor such as Intel Atoms).
- On a core I5 with 16 gigs of ram windows 10 was running extremely slow. And on Adobe Bridge for example when I was clicking on a file it was taking me a few minutes to do a right click. I even tried to update the drivers but that did not do anything. Luckily I was able to roll back on 2 machines, but on one machine, I was not able to rollback even with the USB files, and I ended up reformatting everything.
My impressions on this OS: it is slow, it is buggy, and it seems like this OS has been rushed out too fast.
I will wait a few more months before installing with a clean install. I really was looking forward to this OS and so far I have been extremely disappointed. I'm back with windows 8.1, it's faster.

you may have\had some issue beyond Windows 10 if you're experiencing these types of problems. it is definitely faster than Windows 8\8.1 and previous versions. but, every upgrade since 98 to XP i've seen the same types of issues with multiple users. whether it's a reoccurring issue with MS's install packages or users not updating their own drivers correctly it's hard to tell with all the varying results.
haven't had a problem with it whatsoever since the RTM release and downloading & installing all the new 10 drivers.

The download and installation on my tower PC went perfectly. Everything is set as it was in 8. I boot to the desktop and don't pin many things to the taskbar, I still dislike the start menu and use icons. Office seems a much better "fit" with 10 for me.

I can play games as far back as TR2 which was what 1997? Everything I have tried works better than it did in Win 8.1. I have a i3 hyper-thread 2 core (bought for the low power consumption) and 16 gig of RAM. I have never had less trouble installing a new OS. I don't use E-mail on that computer so I can't comment on that. It also has no microphone so I'm not worried about the privacy issue you mention.

So far Edge seems a much faster browser, I have a satellite ISP so this is really a concern. I have a web site and I can't find the compatibility setting in Edge. I haven't looked for it much but my pages are OK, just don't seem to do the CSS thing right. There is trouble with the backgrounds. However, the printing is over other printing on my tablet so this seems pretty good. I know my page needs a do over.

I would suggest anyone not happy with 10 reinstall the system they like. Or use Android, like on my tablet, a while and Windows 10 will seem wonderful. I am holding off a while on my notebook (32 bit).

For some reason, Windows 10 has longer boot times, even on a Samsung 850 EVO. It uses up more RAM than Windows 8.1, so I'll need to upgrade my RAM for Windows 10. Hopefully the RAM upgrade will make the performance of Windows 10 closer to Windows 8.1.
