Edge with ABP vs Chrome with Ublock Origin... not even close. ABP lets people pay them to be added to whitelist. Microsoft included, no wonder its on Edge as it doesn't block Microsoft ads, wait and see if it allows Ublock and then I might look at it.

At least the S5 can take a drowning if you still have the tabs on it to block the USB and power ports. Have an S7 now, I don't miss the tabs. Microsoft missed the boat with regards to mobile OS, even Nokia who they bought are now looking at Android.

The laptop battery charging issue is a known issue, not unique to my install. There are numerous threads on Tom's and elsewhere documenting and discussing it. It's very real and very frustrating. :-(

I am glad my notebook is old then :)(I take that back, an entry level cell phone is faster than my notebook :) ) It charges with no OS loaded on the system. Software control seems like a bad idea since li-ion do not like overcharge so normally they have a charge controller deal with it

Does it charge if you leave it in the bios or off?

I am not using ABP, I am using Adblock. A different program.

Edge just launched plugins so I understand they do not have a lot yet. Just give it time. Also Microsoft hasn't block it because you can side load it:

And yes the S5 can take a bit of water but it is not at the same level as the S7 however that has nothing to do with the OS itself. That was just the phone I had available for her to use but she misses a lot of the features of her Windows Phone.

And you may think they missed the boat but Android has not always been the top mobile OS. Blackberry was then came iOS and then Android took over. A lot has to do with the features and I can see more value in the features Windows 10 on a phone has TBH. Continuum looks like a great idea that neither Apple nor Android have yet and ad in UWP where you can buy say Office and use it on your phone or PC that is another bonus.

So is it specific to your model? That would be unfortunate.

I had dumb mobiles before smart phones came along, I had a Nokia 3310 for about 7 years or so. Nokia owned the phone world as their hardware was like a brick but their software was their downfall. I had a N9, it was an amazing phone until they tried to make their OS look like a smart phone. Last 3 phones been Galaxy, I am in a rut.

No, it's not specific to my laptop. It's a known issue (apparently) for many people with varying makes/models of laptops who upgraded to Win 10. I did not have the issue prior to performing a clean install of Win 10 Professional. Everything worked fine with Win 7. None of the suggested fixes referenced in the thread below have worked for me:

I will try and see.I have another non-Win device that only charges when powered off. I should've thought of that. Thank you.

I''l give Edge another look. I really hadn't thought about what's under the hood and when you put it the way you did, it makes a lot of sense.

how do I remove/hide the action centre from tray area?
I also have secondary issue with lock screen on my pc,I chose a own picture as my lock screen and whenever I boot up or turn off the pc the picture wont ever change to the pic I chose in the lock screen.
Anyone know how I can fix it?

nvm the action centre, found it and I got it off my sight.

should i be surprised? win 10 update "fixes" mouse problems and suddenly everyone seems to have mouse problems.

Glad I have a Steelseries Sensei and use its onboard drivers and ignore Microsoft messing around with the default ones

Haven't seen anything yet. Then again I also don't use a generic mouse and have drivers installed for my Logitech but no one in my company has had an issue yet.

OK, "everyone" was an exaggeration, but I seen a few people recently.. more than normal. I notice patterns, I will get same question two or three times in a day and never have answered it before... seems to happen a lot here.

Euhm, what happened?
My razor deathadder's buttons are just starting to not respond. Is this related?

I wouldn't blame Razer driver errors on Microsoft, Razer can do that without extra help.

Its also possible its driver signatures as Win 10 started enforcing the need for all drivers to be signed by them before Win 10 will use them. I have no idea, I have just noticed a trend.

I've just received the latest updates after anniversary and Windows 10 is practically perfect. A couple of programs/games which weren't compatible before are now completely compatible, including a 14 year old game.

The black screen after a game freezes is gone, I no longer have to hard reset when it happens, Ctrl+Alt+Del and then killing the program does it.

As far as I'm concerned I'm completely sold by Windows 10.

perfect? The multi desktop feature still needs work, it should remember what icons you use on each one after a restart... still have a control panel and settings menu, if It were perfect these things wouldn't be so easy to think of. It would work even if the drivers for hardware aren't right.. nope. It's better than it was, but its not perfect.. never will be, nothing ever will be.

I had a modern laptop that came with 8. When I first 'updated' to 10, the biggest issue I had was related to software incompatibility with security software. Avast and Comodo would sometimes give me blank blue screens that would return to the desktop when I attempted to use windows explorer. The issue was noted by both companies on their forums. Avast has now gone through a revamp by changing its interface and added a more customisable setup. It seems to work fine in 10 now, although I haven't tried Comodo since. I have always preferred classicshell to 10's menu. Initially I used windows 10's full screen menu (in desktop mode) and with this setting, it still has minor problems when I right click on a program. After right clicking, the system sometimes returns to the desktop or launches the program, instead of bringing up a sub-menu for it. Upon a google this seems to be caused by incompatible shell extensions. A tool such as ccleaner may be able to fix this by removing the shell entry. Although not common, I have also had icons showing with a black background, and pop up 'runtime broker' error messages.

I had similar problems with security software with 8.0 on another laptop and a right click '20+ second pause' before any menu would show (installing fresh would fix or quicken this). I have never had any problems with 8.1 aside from the runtime broker message. Today, my 10 laptop has updated to the next edition of windows 10 without warning (I thought I had updates set to warn me of an update, but never mind). I cross my finger with each update that it doesn't break the system. Should I really call it an update when its over 3gb? I think it's now 'the anniversary os'. I have heard of usb and webcam problems with this update after a google (and one lawsuit), but I'll cross those fingers and hope microsoft fix them quickly. As a result of my experience I easily prefer 8.1 to 10. Windows 10 is essentially the same system with a little more bloat, and bugs as a result. I had windows 7 on another pc but I now use it as a hobby system with xubuntu partitioned

I have used windows PC for 20 years and Win 10 is first one I have had any user problems on. Yes, I know, I sit in here and only see the problems, not the good news. I know its not everyone's experience. I have had to swap users myself due to corruption, so I know it happens.

There should be an easier way to resolve this issue. If you can login you can either edit registry or make a new user (which feels like surrendering), but if you can't login at all you basically forced to reinstall and start again. There should be a better way... If you using a Microsoft Account, you can change password online but that doesn't always seem to get passed onto PC when you login.

I find I cannot even login now if I am not connected to internet. Feels like DRM to me, Is Win 10 an online game now?

I don't have to be logged into internet to use my MS account to login. Working is IT sometimes users profiles get corrupted it happens. I've saw it alot in XP and had it happen to my Windows 10 machine once.

Upgraded my Two Laptops. One desktop is running Vista. I have a Copy of Windows 7, but haven't gotten around to Upgrading it as I rarely use it. I upgraded this onne from 7 to 10 and it was stuck in airplane mode and I ended up rolling it back. The next time I tried, it went went and did fine and within a week it got all unstable and not usuable. No roll back option this time, but had Windows 7 on another drive as a back up. I don't particularly like Windows 10 and the only way I can use it is by installing Classic Shell.

I am also on Windows 10. I upgraded my device few months back. It's going well so far. No issue yet. But I think on Windows 10 there is a chance of being attacking virus. What do you think guys?

You can't run win 10 without AV, defender is built in and will not let you turn it off unless you install another anti virus program. It isn't perfect, it won't stop you over riding it, and most of the top free anti virus programs beat it still, but its better than nothing.

I got the anniversary upgrade complete with forced re-installation of the Xbox app (which I promptly got rid of before disabling that game bar thing again, reinstalling and removing again again) and Cortana (who I got rid of with group permissions).

The post-it app might be quite nice, although by the time I need it I'll probably have forgotten this exists.
As far as I can tell the new notification version is an improvement.

Changing the audio source now is a lot easier, which is something I've wanted for quite a while.

Initial annoyance, but I suppose it keeps chugging along.
And my computer started having a little bit of an instability before this, and I think it's gone away again? So yeeh!

Edit: It did seem to have killed everything in steam though . . .
