could be a memory leak using virtual memory, that would be only way I can see it.

I had to download a file that blocked windows 10 from spying sending stuff and stop re-downloaded useless games on my computer and the file I downloaded blocked windows update as well

Yeah, that's why I'm always leery about files that "promise to fix Windows!!! Just download us now!!".

If you're worried about what data Microsoft collects, read this article: http://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10-telemetry-secrets/ -- just make sure you realize afterwards that the data collection is no different than the other big companies do (Google, Apple, etc.), & is probably less likely to be sold by Microsoft than other data collectors.

For more information on how to limit the data collection, go here: http://www.zdnet.com/article/take-control-of-your-privacy-in-windows-10/

Would be nice if the store apps only updated if you used them, i can live without updates for programs I have never used.
Why update Getting Started on a install that is 1 year old? Surely it should let you delete it, but i bet it reinstalls.
Alarm clock? would be good if it could wake PC up at a certain time, but nope.. its just notifications.
Camera? I don't even have a camera - think i disabled its process anyway.

I don't care about the bandwidth, more the heat caused by the process using 30% of my CPU. Its summer here, trying to keep it all cool :)

Honestly? I've had little trouble with Windows 10 itself. It runs remarkably, faster booting up, nice and clean setup, etc.

My problem lies with UPDATES to Windows 10. Truly, updates are important and necessary for the company dishing them out to make sure their security and what not is up to code. However, it seems like every time there's an update for Windows 10, I have nothing but issues for the next untold amount of days. (Usually a follow up patch update fixes the problems I'm experiencing, but this one was an exception. I do not know if it is because the issue occurring was not covered in the patch or what.)

After the most recent update, it seems like I have to hard reboot my computer, by holding the power button for 8 seconds, anywhere between 2 and 5 times. Why? Because most of the time my computer freezes while booting up.

Other than the obviously stated concern, I have no problems with Windows 10.

I had the same issue as you, well almost, mine was after the boot was complete it would freez or change to black screen randomly and it would reset itself but i thought it was from my overclock so i increase a bit the voltage and it didnt happent anymore. It must be a coincidence the increase in voltage and the cease of freezes because in short time i received an update. I will try tonight to lower the voltage to see what happens.

What I do is permanently disable windows 10 update on services.msc(keep it manual-RECOVERY-FIRST FAILURE-TAKE NO ACTION and gpedit.msc disable update. Less update you receive, the faster windows 10 it will become. I just installed NVIDIA Cuda(graphic acceleration for video software + display), NVIDIA Graphic Experience(games) and Visual Studio Enterprise 2017(including necessary for windows system C++ redistributable + Netframe 3.5-4.6 + necessary for programming and windows language).

Everyday, my boot time was 30 sec and less. It was like windows XP in 10. What ever you do, just keep it simple and basic. Keep it simple and dont install any software cleaner. Just use Windows Administrative Tools and Windows Defender Antivirus(contain all program in one-antivirus,spyware,malware)

Try my method and you will be happy. Dont blame windows for unfinished software OS. Sometime, it is our fault that making BSOD, crashes and freeze. This is my experiences as on windows habit. Sometime windows protect itself from anonymous software and the result of BSOD(blue screen of death).

Talking to my experiences- DONT PLAY WITH REGISTRY CLEANING OR ANY REGISTRY DEFRAGMENT. Leave it as it would as Disk Cleanup windows utility will do his work. You play with registry, you play with fire.

Patches seem to have fallen through the testing startegy, they have insiders to test versions but no one seems to mass test patches to see what damage they may do. Last week they released one that increased usage by 1 service that in some cases was fixed by a later patch, but not everyone got the same results, the later patch made the service go mad instead.

Sometimes I think regedit shouldn't be in windows, two places I don't play in.. registry & bios, you can do serious damage in either if you don't know exactly what you doing.

i would rate windows 10 only 7.5/10 as there is many problem, even though it is a laptop with pre installed windows 10(high end desktop/laptop user probably never feel this) the main thing that i hate from windows 10 is the update is auto and if you want to disable it you have to go to registry. sometimes downloading update could stuck for long time, installing windows 10 to latest version took more than around 2 hours at some version. i actually preffer the windows 10 insider, even though its main usage is for developer and still in development, actually i get less problem with it, and have a lot more interesting feature like you could choose dark or light themes, windows ink workspace which you could do many things especially with device that support touchscreen and stylus(the weird things is there is ruler in digital paper😀), and there is emoji in on screen keyboard

The features that you have mentioned that are in the Insider Preview have been in the official Windows 10 version since the Anniversary Update.

W10 is good when it's working. But it gets really wonky (that's a technical term, I swear) when something is not working right. And we have great Tshooting tools, but they get real complicated, real fast when the first solution doesn't work.

And how is that different than any other OS?
Earlier Windows, or Linux, or Apple?

Win 10 is no different.

I wonder when the next version of Win 10 will be released, and I wonder how long before Win 10 will recognise NVME drives without additional steps. 1st one probably happen long before 2nd.

I like Windows 10, its Microsoft's best effort so far, the only thing that annoys me slightly is having to update sometimes before I shut down. Does anyone know how to postpone the update or shutdown without updating?

"Update and shut down"
It does its update thing, then turns off by itself.

Yeah I realize that. Sometimes I don't have the time to sit there and wait for it do update before shutting down. Just wondering if there was a way to shut it down without the update and do the update later?

There is no need to sit there and wait.
It will shut down on its own.

Sometimes you may want it to shutdown right away so you can unplug it from wall. For instance, if you don't leave PC plugged in during thunder storms and one sneaks up on you suddenly.

Mind you, you get 3 days to download & install updates once Win 10 tells you it has some, so there should be sometime in that period where you can restart PC and let it install updates

Yeah, maybe.

But as I had an update in waiting, I just tried this.
"Update and shut down". Usually I just do update and restart.

But...the shut down.
Click the button...~90 seconds later, shut down as normal.

I agree, sometimes I just want to shut down my laptop and go to bed (i don't leave things plugged in at night). Its slightly annoying when I hit shutdown and have to wait for it to do its update. This is no major issue by the way, just slightly annoying for me :)

I can't say its actually been a problem to me yet, I can just see it being one if you did have an update waiting, but I normally update PC as soon as I see one as it doesn't take that long to do a restart.

if you don't leave it plugged in at night, i would turn off fast start up as you wouldn't be getting any benefit from it.

Hey guys, I've actually found a solution myself and wrote about it.
😉
