Please keep it to 1 thread.
Hello! I hope you are well. I would like to request your advice regarding a new computer that I am considering. I am evaluating three options and would like to know your opinion on which would be the best choice.
The first option is the MACHINIST E5 MR9A PRO MAX motherboard, LGA 2011-3, with a Xeon E5 2698 V4 processor and 64GB of DDR4 RAM (4 pieces of 16GB each) at 2133MHz. This configuration also includes a NVME WIFI M.2 MR9A PRO MAX memory.
The second option is the ASUS X99-A II motherboard, LGA 2011-3, also with a Xeon E5 2698 V4 processor, but with 32GB of Kingston Fury Beast DDR4 RAM (2 pieces of 16GB each) at 3200MHz.
The third option I am considering is a current generation configuration that could offer similar or even slightly superior performance to the options I am considering, without a significant increase in cost. What current generation configuration do you consider to be at the performance level of the other two options?
I am aware that the ASUS motherboard has a higher cost than the MACHINIST. However, I wonder if it is worth investing in the ASUS, considering its age, compared to the MACHINIST which is a more recent model.
In addition, how does the performance of the Xeon E5 2698 V4 processor compare with the processors of the current generations? It is worth mentioning that the main use will be for video editing, rendering and design, not for gaming.
I would like to know your opinion on the cost-benefit of these options compared to the most recent configurations.
Finally, I have some specific questions about the MACHINIST card: Are the fans very noisy? Does it get very hot? Is it efficient in terms of energy consumption?
I would greatly appreciate your opinion on these options and if you consider that any of these configurations is a good choice today compared to the new configurations.
Best regards!
