Question RAM Stick Works On Relative's Computer, No Longer Works On Mine...

Will check again today when my computer arrives just to make sure. But I did check the CPU socket and the CPU pads one day after the PC crashed, they were all apparently fine. Wouldn't bent or broken/absent socket pins cause the mobo to refuse posting with any type of RAM?

Question RAM Stick Works On Relative's Computer, No Longer Works On Mine...

Hello everybody. So I have sent my computer to a relative who is a technician, and as it turns out, my machine indeed crashed due to one of the two 32GB 2666MHz DDR4 RAM sticks dying. He tested his PC's own RAM on my motherboard and it came back to life. But this is disconcerting: He also...

Question Custom-built PC crashed spectacularly and Is seemingly dead after about 1 year of continuous use ?

About 2 months ago while I was using the computer, I turned off the monitor and went to do something else... When I came back, the GPU fans were on full speed and there was no output to the monitor. I then force rebooted the PC using the reset switch on the case... the computer came back but...

Question MSI B560M-A Pro - Restore Default Settings = POST Failure Requiring Manual CMOS Reset

2 days ago I had to restore the UEFI's default settings, and to my surprise, the mobo simply refused to POST. DRAM led was solid amber. I thought I had killed the motherboard or possibly even the processor's IMC. The machine would start, hang during DRAM check, shut down, then start and hang...

Question Note To Self: Don't Keep Benchmarking Your Brand New SSD All The Time... Sigh.

I have had this new SSD for a bit more than a day, was worried about its sequential read speeds... After several tests I've finally concluded that the drive's sequential read speed caps out at 7.1GB/s... (~7130MB/s) and absolutely won't go any higher than that, contrary to Kingston's...

Question PCIe 4.0 SSD Never Reaches It's Advertised Sequential Read Speed

Yep. But even testing with a Linux live cd using hdparm or fio commands, the fastest speed it ever gets up to is around 7026-7040MB/s. But then is that the max speed I can expect out of this SSD? My guess is that it will only achieve the rated 7300MB/s under very specific conditions and with...

Question PCIe 4.0 SSD Never Reaches It's Advertised Sequential Read Speed

I just got a brand new Kingston Fury Renegade 500GB SSD, which is regarded by many reviewers as one of the best, fastest PCIe 4.0 SSDs on the market today... My model has advertised speeds of 7.300MB/s sequential read and 3.900MB/s sequential write. However, after various benchmarks, I've...

Question Slightly Slower POST After RAM Upgrade To 64GB -- Is This Because Of RAM Size?

Noticed the motherboard now takes about 7 seconds to POST after upgrading to 64GB. The machine does start up fine, It works fine. It just takes longer to POST. There are no crashes or instabilities. Does RAM Size affect POST times? I can see the EZ-Debug DRAM LED lights up for those 7 secs...

Question RAM Kit Not On Motherboard's Compatibility List. Should I Worry?

As a last upgrade for my PC this year, I will max out its ram to 64GB, and got this matched kit/pair : Corsair Vengeance LPX (2X32GB) 64GB 2666MHz Model - CMK64GX4M2A2666C16. But in my mobo's compatibility list (MSI B560M-A PRO) only the 2400MHz version of this kit is listed: MSI B560M-A...

Question Is The SSD Heatsink Thermal Pad Enough?

Unfortunately I lost the 2 tiny screws that hold my motherboard's NVMe heatsink in place. I plan on getting a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD which doesn't come with a heatsink. Will the glue from the thermal pad of the mobo's heat sink be enough to hold it onto the SSD?

Question Is Running A CPU Benchmark In Realtime Priority Supposed To Crash/Freeze Windows?

Tried running a cpu benchmark and went to the task manager and set its priority to Realtime... Result: Instant, system-wide freeze. Requiring a forced restart of the machine. Actually it didn't crash per se... the OS just stopped responding.
