next time it happends check in the event viewer for errors in the last hour relating to Nvidia display drivers.

Check your windows system log to see if the display drivers are crashing at the same time. this could be just a driver issue. could also be a power supply problem , look at your voltages in BIOS and see if they are correct and not fluctuating.

it does not look like that cooler has a back plate. i think you missed a key word i said you can mount it on the "BACK" of the card. im sorry i don't have any pics as i don't have 290x anymore. again the vrm1 heatsink can be mounted on the BACK side of the card. all you need is to get 2 screws.

is your CPU running right? what rev. is your mobo? depending on what Rev. and bios, your MOBO might not support that CPU or any 220W TDP and could be holding you back a bit right their. also have a look at GPU-Z to see if your getting any throttling from the video card.

on smaller build i tend to use blowers as case air flow is limited in most. as for the noise well i have also found in small cases that cards with open coolers tend to run the fans harder then in big cases and thus become as loud as a blower card anyways. My 2 cents

make sure you set your screen to run at 144hz default will be 60, you will need to go into your display settings and manually set 144hz

looks like a bad Video card or too much overclock. worth checking power connectors and cleaning the card. check for high temps and unstable voltages. might be time for a RMA

Looks like Power tune is throttling it. check bios for stable Voltage's and looking at all temps make sure to look at VRM Temp. card will throttle if VRM are too hot "a problem on some XFX cards" . i would lean more to PSU tho. something like GPU-Z can help to see some power use and VRM temp.

could be CMOS battery its worth checking it out they are not much $ check the voltage of the battery. the corsair CX750 has enough 12v amps for the 390. i would check voltages in bios and make sure they are stable. or if you do have a spare PSU to test with do that. no video on post does point...

After talking with Mark at XFX 2 more times on the phone and being disconnected/ "Transfered" to the Manager, they have reluctantly agreed to pay the shipping and "upgrade?" to the 290x Black OC.
