    970's are only 3.5gb, the 0.5 is gimped, 980 has 4gb (not gimped), at 144mhz I would go for the 980 if you can spare the cash.

    As an electricain you NEVER work with the power on enless you HAVE to!, that goes for EVERYTHING!, you probs fried your motherboard, lucky not yourself, think before you touch!

    Yeah you could, just a shame you dont a K cpu you could overclock that then, that said, you should be able to run all cores on turbo with a little bck tweak to make it alot faster but if you do that I would get a better cooler.

    the 970 has 3.5gb of memory not 4gb as stated, as 0.5 is gimped, if you got the cash go with the 980, and get a 1440p 144hz gsync monitor. you wont regret it ;)

    Try you old power supply, the new one could be faulty. 750w should run them 970's easy.
