Hello everyone, I had this laptop for the last 5 years and it was functioning flawlessly, till about 5 months ago when for some unknown reason it started lagging.
In gaming, I never experienced any lag except for thermal throttling which only occurs on high-end AAA games and not on other games...
Does anyone know about how many gigabytes a sfc scan does?
Does the size equal the system file size of ALL windows installation files, and if so how big/what portion is it?
Will it only scan the OS drive?
I am usually pretty adept at Google searches. I found one article with guidance on using the Task Scheduler to autorun SFC /scannow on a schedule. But it didn't work, and the task never ran. So, I wonder whether you can recommend an approach that works. I am on a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit system.
When I turn the PC on it boots properly, but it boots onto black screen and command prompt. Tried DISM and SFC commands which didn't find any corrupted files. Tried DISM command with install.wim file, still didn't work. Last thing I know before the issue appeared was that my co-worker...
Not sure why this started happening, but it just gets stuck on this screen
I’ve done sfc /scannow’s and DISM’s
Updated the bios
updated Windows
Unplugged the power for a while (though didn’t take out the CMOS battery)
Is this an issue that someone else has had and how did they fix it...
When these hard drive fixing operations are done, do they generally just read the SSD if there is nothing that needs to be fixed? Are these commands as write heavy if they do not detect any errors?
Are there any "safe" variants of CHKDSK that it wouldn't hurt to do once in a while for SSD...
Even on a brand new NVMe SSD with a clean install of windows, after windows updates and updating drivers doing sfc /scannow seems to complete saying "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them."
I checked with sfc /verifyonly and found violations again...

Hi. I recently purchased a Corsair h100i v2 240mm AIO cooler. I noticed that there is a gap between the fans and the radiator due to the screws being too long. That also causes audible vibration on the case. My idea was to install two 120mm fan gaskets under the fans.
My question is, is it...
