1:1 FSB : Ram ratio. Is it necessary for Q9550?

As far as I'm concerned the debate is over, everyone has realised what industry convention means finally. May peace and harmony rule the CPU forum.

Ya my grammar wasn't the greatest in that statement, however it does make sense if you slow it down.

Running 1:1 with down clocked ram isn't doing that, and in my opinion and quite a few others on this forum, believe this as well. 1:1 when running your ram lower that it's rated speed isn't.

I never claimed to be an English professor... Did have stuff going on while typing that bit however.

That's alright dude, no problem. Sorry if there were any hard feelings.

Oh and the video was funny, you can pop into my office for an arguement anytime lol.

uh.. wtf? vertigon. Im the OP and you clearly misunderstood everyone's post. Moroever you even accuse OP with some BS without even paying attention to the meaning of the original question.

Whatever you are using, it is probably a good idea to reduce the dosage.

Sportsfanboy and computenix clearly provided very helpful solution to my question. Once again I thank them for info.

Dude you did nothing wrong. Vertigon seems like a typical troll. You just have to know when to ignore one.

Ya your right...I'm relatively new to the forum thing in general, so this stuff is definitely a learning experience.

Well hopefully you could sift through all the crap and come away with some answers.

Good luck with your build, it should be nice and fast :)

That is why I specifically asked Vert.. to stop talking to me. Kinda reminds me of having an argument with a gal, when the guy is trying to make general sense, while the gal just wants to win the argument.

No don't leave man...I'm sure a lot of people have learned quite a bit, and were helped by you in the last year.

On a side note... That comment was really targeted toward Vertigon as he got me going early in the thread.

That's true Grimmy, :)

^What the crap did I ever do to you?

I don't mind the newbies I just hate the stupidity that some fans bring weather its from Intel, nVidia or AMD/ATI.

I am not the kind of person who will just agree with someone and if I know its wrong I will argue it until I am proven wrong.

If someone has a problem with that then too damn bad because I would rather have truth posted than FUD, BS or fanboyism.

Bah.. just read stranger's sig... I generally see that first for some reason (don't listen to me as i know nothing.), before reading his post. And besides... he's... I guess Scottish. And they have the type of temperament, which can be quite grouchy.

But everyone seems to have some kind of bitterness towards one another. It's even start to wear me down at times.

Despite all the self stimulation, if you walk into a computer shop and ask for a cpu and ram with a 1:1 ratio, they will work to the outline jimmy provided. Try it, try as many stores and outlets as you possibly can. No one will say to you "sorry we can't give you DDR3 1333Mhz RAM with that because we don't have a mobo and chipset that can do 667Mhz".

So knowing that, why keep whining just to prove to the entire forum your a bitter ignoramous?

Jimmy your right, don't mind the petty people who'd rather try and save face rather than thank you for educating them.

I did I quick stint in a computer store trying to decide if that's what I want to do. I was considering trying to open my own business, and felt like stealing some experience away from a computer joint. I was hired because I have experience tinkering in timings, overclocking, etc., the type of crap we talk about here on the forums.

I was far and away better and more knowledgeable than anyone there, which is sad because I have a long way to go.

When I was talking to costumers about a custom build, I would be encouraged to explain my recommendations, as to give the customers a sense of not getting ripped off, or we care type of thing. So that meant being real about what type of memory and ultimately, what type of computer parts they actually need. Your not accurate at all- How many times have actually walked in a store and asked the questions your spewing out? I think you haven't, so stop lying. No one in my relatively quick time of six months working for a computer store, has asked those questions, they are really for the enthusiast, which are a rare breed. (most computer store owner are not enthusiast).

So stop trying to use mainstream or normal terms, to explain technical or more advanced computer knowledge.

OMG man what don't you get about this simple point???? 2 pages into and you have NFI of what I'm talking about.

Open your eyes and have a look at this page at Newegg:

http://www.newegg.com/Store/Brand.aspx?Brand=1666&name=Corsair-XMS-Series

Why on earth do you think they term memory this way:

DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) or:

DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) or:

DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

See, 3 version of DDR3 all with a different bandwidth. Oh and looky here, a whole bunch of different processors and look at how there quoting the FSB's:

http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category.aspx?Category=34&name=CPUs-Processors

1333Mhz, 1066Mhz, 800Mhz..........

So does that mean if I buy a Q6600 I set my FSB to 1066Mhz? NOOOOOOO......deeerrrrrrrr........deeerrrrrrrrr

It's industry convention for god's sake man. How much more simple can I explain it?????? What the hell do you need me to do for you??? Draw a picture???? Hey???? Show you how to use an abbacus?????

"I was far and away better and more knowledgeable than anyone there, which is sad because I have a long way to go. "

Dam right it's sad, so VERY VERY sad.

"Your not accurate at all- How many times have actually walked in a store and asked the questions your spewing out? I think you haven't, so stop lying."

Bwahahahahaha.......just because your not the brightest light in the room doesn't mean the rest of us don't ask technical questions. The guy who builds the machines for work will happily lap in a cpu if your prepared to void it's warranty as well as do custom case mods etc. Maybe you live in Zimbabwe where they don't do anything other than take your cash and give back change.

"So stop trying to use mainstream or normal terms, to explain technical or more advanced computer knowledge."

Bwahahahaha is your idea of "advanced computer knowledge" being able to divide a number in half??

Guys, DDR2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR2_SDRAM 800mhz requires a fsb of 400mhz to get 1:1!

DDR2 1000mhz requires a fsb of 500mhz to run 1:1!

DDR2 1200mhz requires a fsb of 600mhz to run 1:1!

DDR3http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR3_SDRAM 1333mhz requires a fsb of 666 to run 1:1!

bwahahahahahaha......bwahahahahahaha......OMG I think I'm going to pee...you think this is equivelant to discovering the theory of relativity dont you?......bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahhahahahaha

Your funny, you claimed to be an architect in another thread that you were starting sh-t in ( that about 4 posters basically told you to get out, much like this thread), at the same time you talk like a child. And always take things out of context. You get on these threads with the main goal to prove your self right (instead of actually trying to answer the op's question) because your very insecure, and there by, you try to make others feel inferior. Your not even good at it, as you lie and contradict yourself all the time. In addition your comment have proved to be inaccurate, with false claims and faulty arguments. You also feel the need to be condescending, pompous, and generally ignorant in your statements and comments.

You act like a child and get no credibility with me and a lot of others. You gave absolutely no credible evidence that I was wrong about anything I have said on this thread, at the same time talking endless crap about me and others. You are an azzbaby and an idiot. (Oh ya a troll too, almost forgot)

"as you lie and contradict yourself all the time. In addition your comment have proved to be inaccurate, with false claims and faulty arguments"

Can you actually prove any of this or is it like I suspect, another one of your childish emotional rants. So where are the lies exactly, the contradictions and the false claims? Sounds to me like you've resorted to lying about someone else's character, but that's typical of most low lifes.

"You gave absolutely no credible evidence that I was wrong about anything I have said on this thread"

What are you talking about? I said your numbers were right but that your convention was wrong, WRONG get it WRONG. Did you look at the links I posted in my last post? What do you think now? What do you propose to do , email newegg and tell them they shouldn't advertise RAM this way? Your going to have to email just about every other Memory manufacturer too lol.

I can't believe it, were almost 3 pages into it and you STILL can't understand a simple point. Why are you ranting on and on? Do you even know what your trying to argue about?

Jimmy is right about industry convention, so you either understand and agree or explain to us why memory is advertised this way and what people really mean when they say they want ram to run 1:1 with the cpu, which by the way is talked about in the very first post and countless times afterward.

So sportsfanboy what do people mean when they say they want their RAM to run 1:1 with the cpu? You better have some sort of decent explanation otherwise people will never understand why you've been whining for 2 pages. lol

Look I don't want to be nasty to someone who's "challenged" so if you have a mental condition please let me know and I will refrain from replying to your posts.

All I can say is... wow.

If all that crap Vertion posted doesn't resemble in how a woman talks in an argument just to win it... I don't know what does.
