Hello,

I just finished building my new computer. I used only new components, so no old sdd/hdd's.

The computer starts like it should and the bios menu seems to work fine.

I've downloaded a windows ISO file using the windows 10 media tool on a USB stick. When I plug the usb in my new computer and select the UEFI usb stick as a boot device, I instantly get the 0xc0000001 error ( View: https://imgur.com/a/LGXxDMz
).

Can somebody help me? I can't really do a lot of troubleshooting, since the computer is completely blank.

Specs:
  • GIGABYTE X570 GAMING X
  • AMD Ryzen 7 3800X socket AM4 processor
  • AMD Wraith Prism cooler
  • MSI GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER GAMING X
  • Corsair 32 GB DDR4-3200
  • Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1 TB
  • Corsair CX650 650 watt

No beeps or lit LEDs? If so, refer to the motherboard's User Guide/Manual for the meanings.

Start by opening the case and doublechecking all connections, card seatings, jumpers, etc. to ensure that all are correctly made and fully and firmly in place.

No beeps or leds, i don't think my motherboard supports this. I tried step 1 and 2. Am i correct that I can't use the recovery tool form step 3 and 4 since i haven't windows installed yet?

Make sure USB stick is plugged into a 2.0 port. Also, use only a single RAM stick in the a.2 slot.

Tried different usb ports. Tried each RAM stick in the a2 slot, but it didn't work.

I tried reinstalling the ISO file on the usb stick and rebooting resulted in a new error, 0xc0000102

I removed some parts and reattached them (RAM, GPU and M.2 sdd).
After that i rechecked everything:
  1. (couldn't recheck this, but i'm 100% sure the cpu is placed in the right direction, arrow to arrow)
  2. cpu cooler is placed on cpu and connected to cpu fan port.
  3. ram sticks are connected to A2 and B2.
  4. M.2 sdd is placed in the M2A socket.
  5. the 12V (8pin) from the power supply is connected to the mb (to power the CPU), so is the main power connecter (24pin).
  6. the GPU is connected to the mb and the PCIE cable from the power supply (6+2pin) is connected to the GPU.
  7. all front pannel wires are connected to the right panel (p led, power, hd led and reset), so is front audio wire and the usb cable.
  8. the 2 fans are connected to both the system fan ports.

Booting the ISO usb still instantly gives me the 0xc0000102 error.

I have a bad feeling that one of those components might be damaged?

Recovery:

Error 0xc0000102 - hopefully just a misconfiguration.

Motherboard link (verify that I found the correct User Manual).

https://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_x570-gaming-x_e.pdf

Work through the Manual to check BIOS settings, SATA ports being used, and RAM installation.

Section 2-7, Chipset, physically numbered Page 33 is worth a first look.

Then Page 28 (SATA and NVMe Support).

I did not note an explicit comment in your Motherboard's User Manual.

Section 3.1, Pages 37 and 38 provide more information regarding the configuration settings.

Hi Ralston, thanks for all the effort!

I created a recovery drive using the first methode in the link above. When I booted my pc with this usb drive, it showed the mb logo, freezes and doesn't react to anything (keyboard or mouse). I used the same usb drive which I used previously used for the windows 10 ISO. My computer doesn't seem to like booting anything from that usb. Could it be a faulty usb maybe? I'll try to pick up a new one tomorrow.

The manual you're referring to is indeed the right one. I've read through the manual and checked the BIOS menu. The mb is recognizing all the parts (cpu, fans, gpu, ram and m2 sdd).

I've also checked page 33 and 28, but I don't think that really matters to my build? As storage, I'm only using a 970 EVO plus sdd that's build in the m2a socket, so all the sata ports are empty.

I did not note an explicit comment in your Motherboard's User Manual.

Section 3.1 is about configuring a RAID Set. I don't think this useful for my build since i only have one sdd drive?

Understood - no RAID.

Some motherboards preempt SATA ports for M.2 /NVMe

With both error codes indicating that a required device "isn't connected or cannot be accessed" it all may be narrowing down to a defective component.

I am starting to wonder about the Samsung 970....

Are you able to test it in another computer?
