Hello everyone, the close to 1k, the more Ill love you :D

Approximate Purchase Date: Soon

Budget Range: 1000 to 1300 Canadian, Monitor included in budget

System Usage from Most to Least Important: General use 70% (surfing/office/movies), gaming 30%

Parts Not Required: OS (I will get at student price) (should be windows 7 64bit)

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: any

Country of Origin: Canada, Montreal QC

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: No unless you think I should

Monitor Resolution: One of these 1600x1200, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, 1920x1200 (if 19**x1*** is not doable at my budget, then I would like to stick with a good CPU and downgrade resolution which in turn would save money on GPU/Monitor/PSU) (or maybe I should downgrade to a 2400 cpu)

Additional comments: I want an SSD (~60 to 80GB)

Thx for your help,

Thx alot for the help,
I was wondering, am I paying a premium for the mobo/PSU having sli/crossfire support? I was wondering if I should save money on that (maybe just the mobo) and spend the money on a better GPU.

Should I be waiting for some deals/combos since I dont have to buy it very soon?

You don't really pay that much more for a motherboard and PSU with SLi support if you're buying quality components anyways. Unless you really cheap out the difference between say a motherboard with 1 PCIe x16 slot with a 500W PSU compared to a motherboard with 2 PCIe slots and a 650W PSU is like $80 total.

For a single display the 560 Ti should be more than sufficient.

If you're choosing between a i5-2400 with a faster video card or the i5-2500K with slower video card I'd go with the i5-2400. Not only will you never be able to tell the difference between the two CPUs in games, but the i5-2400 would let you get a cheaper motherboard and forgo an aftermarket CPU fan.

I really like this as I dont think I would really need a 2500k. Thank you very much.
1 more question, what are the life expentency of SSDs? The reason I really want to get one is that I was thinking I would be able to use it in future builds as well. Or do they die in ~3 years?

Thank you all for your help guys.
