Question 144hz using a DVI to Display Port adapter

Hi all, Just upgraded my card to a 2070 Super. My previous card was a 970 which on the back of the card had hdmi and dvi ports.
I was using my two monitors one of them being hdmi and a 60hz monitor and the other being a 144hz monitor which i was using a dvi cable for to go directly into the back of the card.

I now have to use dvi in both as i have to have the hdmi spare for my VR, so using dvi for both means i have to use my dvi to display port adapters but only issue is now the main monitor will not give me the option of using a 144hz setting in display options.

has anyone encountered something like this in the past and has a solution for it if so please let me know.

What's the make and model of the 144Hz monitor?

This is the only converter I could find where it specifically states it can do 1080p 120Hz: https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-DisplayPort-DVI-Adapter-Dual-Link/dp/B00A493CNY (or from the manufacturer themselves: https://www.startech.com/en-us/audio-video-products/dp2dvid2 )

While you might be able to do 144Hz by forcing a custom resolution, it's best to be prepared that you won't get it.
