I want to buy a new monitor and i think im going to go with the Viewsonic vx2458-mhd which is a 144hz 1ms monitor.

My question is, can this monitor hold up 144 hz with a 1.4 HDMI cable?

Some people say it works with the ViewSonic XG2402 but im not sure if in this one is going to work.

Hope i get answers!

Viewsonic vx2458-mhd

Ok, so if you have an RX 580 what does it matter if your motherboard has Displayport or not? You're not going to be plugging anything INTO the motherboard. Your display cable will be plugged into the graphics card and the RX 580 sure as HELL has Displayport.

So that is what you SHOULD be using, but that HDMI 1.4 on both the graphics card and monitor will support your 144hz at 1080p if you need to do that because you don't have a DP cable.
WHICH Viewsonic vx2458 do you have? There are multiple sub models. Viewsonic vx2458-mhd, Viewsonic vx2458-C-mhd, etc.

It really depends on the monitor, because HDMI 1.4 DOES support 144hz at 1080p, but it does NOT at 1440p. But the monitor itself might only support 60hz over HDMI.

Based on the specs of the VX2458-mhg, it looks like it supports 144hz over it's HDMI 1.4 outputs.

Thanks for replying! i know that there is some confusion because of similar models but i was pointing the Vx248-mhd not that one with the C, im just hoping it does support 144hz via HDMI because my motherboard doesnt have displayport.

My RX 580 has a displayport, but my motherboard doesn't have it.
