Question 16gb kit not showing

Hey guys, so, is it safe to assume one stick já falty? I have a 2x8gb kit of trident z Neo and an msi x299 pro carbon with a 9920x. I can boot with just one stick in or with both but I can’t if I just use the other one. And when I boot with both, only 8gb gets detected as memory size, although the bios says I’m using 2 8gb sticks.

Wow, you're still on the original Bios which technically doesn't support that processor. LoL

You can download the bios by clicking "Download "on the left side of that page and then selecting the Bios tab near the top.

Yea I did that now lol I swear I hadn’t realized. Changed nothing though, still the ram in the same situation

Ok so this got weirder. I checked and CPU Z detects both sticks, says 16gb in dual channel. When In startup, says dual channel also but only detects 8gb, bios also sees both sticks and both slots populated but memory size still only says 8gb. I’ve switched up slots and reseated the cpu and nothing seems to work. I can boot fine with 1 stick alone or with both but not with just the other. I’m inclined to say it’s just a bad stick but I don’t understand why cpu z detects it
