I didnt know what category this went under but i was wondering what kind of processor i should get if i want to support a nvidia geforce gtx 550+. I am willing to pay almost anything but i just wanted an idea of what a good processor is. thanks

I wouldn't really suggest going lower than an i3 or a8 for a gaming pc. And there isn't much of a performance increase over an i5. If you are building a new pc I would suggest you fill this out and post in the systems section. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/353572-31-build-upgrade-advice

But just for information, tom's publishes "Best Gaming CPUs For The Money" articles about once a month since new stuff comes out and prices change. It shows different cpus at different price points. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106.html

There is also a "Best Graphics Cards For The Money" that is similar. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107.html

But knowing how much of your budget to spend on each is why I would just suggest filling out that form in the systems section.

A really good processor for gaming by Intel can be the 2500k or the 3570k, for AMD if you do not like the a8 then you can try the Phenom II X4 series, they are rare to find these days but they are real good with games as well (not to the extent of the 2500/3570). Generally I would say AMD offers price/performance while Intel offers raw power and some may argue it is pricier than AMD. I myself am content with a Phenom II X4 955 Black edition which maxes out almost all games I throw at it with the resolution of 1600 x 900 and the video card HD 7770.
